Gravesend RFC Petanque section is celebrating its 30th year as a member of the National Petanque Association, making it the oldest petanque club in Kent, based at its original venue.

To mark this anniversary the section is holding an evening of live music on Friday 3rd September 2010 in the main hall at Gravesend RFC.

The section would especially like to invite all of those who have played for or against GRFC over the 30 year period. Tickets will be £5.00 per person including a buffet.

Doors open at 7:30. Live music by Julie Lanning Band.

For more information and tickets, please contact Ian King/Cathy Dodd on 01474 359511 or Mike Cubitt on 01474 535498

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of Alan Tointon in the afternoon of 25 June 2010.

Alan has been a member of GRFC for more than sixty years, in virtually every capacity from player to President in 1995-98. His generosity of time and financial support for individual and team desire in the sport we love is legend. His enthusiasm and drive has played a major part in establishing the Club in the position it is today.

His funeral is on the 8th July 1020hrs at Medway Crematorium and then back to the Rugby Club. No flowers please - if you would like to honour his memory, a contribution to the EllenorLions Hospice in Northfleet would be very much appreciated. Click here for details of how to make your donation.

May he rest in peace
