John was a member of Gravesend RFC for a number of years having coached and managed my junior team, played for the Gannets under the captaincy of the great Bobby Wright, was the Chairman of the youth division and was a Vice-President. Dad also played petanque and bowls at the club. Only a few weeks ago he said to me that he wanted to get down to the club for the next President's Day but it wasn't to be.
GRFC was a huge part of my Dad's life and we as a family have fantastic memories of our time with the club. He was incredibly proud of the club, what it stands for and what it has achieved. He will be wearing his GRFC tie on the day as will the pall bearers.
For those who knew him and would like to attend, his funeral is on Wednesday 22nd June at Thanet crematorium, (Manston Rd, Margate, Kent CT9 4LY). We are asking those attending to be there for 12:20. Afterwards we will be celebrating his life at the Botany Bay hotel and everyone is welcome.
