08/03/10 GRFC Schools Floodlit Invitation 7's

The Gravesend Rugby Club 22nd Invitation Schools Floodlit 7s will be held on Monday 8th March at 6pm at Rectory Field.

The Cup and Plate winners from last year,Campion School (Essex) and Duke of Yorks are back to defend their trophies and are joined by Gravesend GS, Dartford GS, Kings Rochester, Rochester Maths, City of London Freemen's (Surrey) and Kings Canterbury.
The final will take place at 9pm followed by the presentation of the trophies by the Chairman of Gravesend RFC
 


Kent Police Appeal for Witnesses

Police are calling for witnesses following an incident at a rugby match between Maidstone and Gravesend on Sunday 17 January in which a 26 year old man sustained an injury to his right eye.

The incident occurred at around 14:40pm at Mote Park rugby ground in the first half of the game.

The man was taken to hospital following match and has now lost the sight in his eye.
Anyone with information about the circumstances of this incident is asked to contact DS Nicholas Sparkes at Maidstone Police on 01622 690690 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Latest News from Our Chairman

It’s some time since I last wrote and quite a bit has happened. If you don’t know by now, we are still holding our place at the top of the league by three points but with Dover still biting at our ankles and with one game in hand. In the last three matches we have re-gained our pre-Christmas form, having got rid of that season’s excesses and following a slight hiccup against Sidcup we gave a good account of ourselves against Chichester away and then on the Sunday before last in the Kent Cup, we put Maidstone to bed with a 41-5 victory at Mote Park where nobody was in doubt as to who was in charge. We were unfortunate to lose a couple of players injured in that match, more of which I will refer to later on.
