Under 9’s are developing into a strong squad in their first season of ‘contact’.

KENT FESTIVAL 25 MARCH 2012

GRFC under 9s competed in the preliminary rounds of the Kent Mini’s Festival on Sunday (25 March) at Canterbury RFC.

After a slow start our boys finally managed to progress to the finals of the Shield Competition (to be at Tonbridge Juddians on 22 April) by virtue of an exciting and frantic quarter final against Folkestone which went to two periods of extra time before Gravesend claimed victory with a ‘golden try’.

Coach Nevil Hope said, ‘We could not have asked for greater effort from all there, and it was fantastic to see the way they all battled for that victory in the last game’.

Well done boys, let’s see what we can do in the Finals!

KENT FESTIVAL FINALS

Some photo action from Kent Festival Finals Day at Tonbridge Juddians on 22 April 2012.

The boys also played in the Aylesford Festival on the 29 April.

While we didn’t win any trophies, the boys did play very well at times. Perhaps they just need to have a little more confidence in their own skills and abilities.

Coach Nevil believes they have the makings of a very strong squad for next season (under 10s). If we can recruit just a couple of new players for next season Nevil is confident we can field two teams when thy go to the various festivals.

See you all in September!
