Trumpeters go out with a fanfare to win 38-0

Trumpets pipped at the post by Medway to Finnish the season as runners up, in their inaugural season in East Kent Premier league.

The excitement had been building all week, then finally the day was here, a coach full of players & supporters headed off to the last game of the season needing a win & Medway to lose, to become champions for the second season running, much banter on the bus & a few drinks for some, bellied the tension of all concerned.
The game was always going to be a tough one, & it was, with Deal & Betts putting up tough resistance, but once we scored there was only going to be one winner, with the trumpets having the best defensive record in the league.
Once again not for the first time this season 6 different players score in a game for the Trumpets, not 1 superstar, all superstars!.
This season around 40 different players have appeared for the 3s, over the last 2 seasons they have a 90% win rate, if it ain't broken don't fix it, same again for next season, but let's go one better.
As for Medway, congratulations to them they must have really wanted to win the league !, losing at half time & then winning 40-12 but given the Medway ethos, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised !. "If you wrong us shall we not avenge".
Many thanks to;
The club for supporting the GRFC 3s aka trumpets ( if it ain't broke don't fix it).
The ever increasing band of supporters at every game (at least the supporters know who they are).
You the players, without you there wouldn't be a third team, ( one more season Richard ),
I have to mention someone we lost 12 months ago, Gary Theobald, who's ethos has influenced most of us in one way or another & made us the men/players we are, as long as you play as you do, for each other, & the club he loved, you keep his memory alive.
Looking forward to next season, you will have to hit the ground running, the other teams know the Trumpets are coming & will make it tough. Points lost are hard to make up.
Congratulations to, the Gannets, who despite some serious injuries will probably finish 3rd in the league, the swans who are mid table, in their 1st season in the league, the Moles who are winning more than they are losing.
Best wishes to the 1st & 2nd teams for a better season next time out.
Last but not least, thanks to Stu, Terry, Hoops for making it happen.
Best wishes from everyone, for Stu & Wills on their upcoming weddings, just make sure you keep Trumpeting next season. X
