Another great away fixture resulting in GRFC Spartans remaining triumphant.
A lovely day for rugby on our away fixture at Sittingbourne also hosting Dover. GRFC Spartans arrived with 19 boys, another testiment to the team and the parents supporting our away fixtures enabling us to put out two teams with subs. Sittinbourne and dover with one team each. As expected a good warm up and skill sessions followed with some great examples of teamwork and nice to see the boys from all three clubs coming together durig the drills and working well together.
After the completion of the training session the teams were split up into their respective clubs with gravesend teams taking on both Sittingbourne and Dover.
It appears the extra focus the Spartans coaching team had put on straight running, moving the ball out wide and the defensive line were proving fruitful.
Some beautiful periods of play and strong defending meant the two Gravesend teams outplayed the hosts and visitors in most areas resulting in GRFC coming out on top.
The passing was majestic and for boys of such a young age the communication and tactical awareness displayed was a real eye opener and also fills us with optomism approaching the festival season.
All in all a great away fixture with Sittingbourne who we have found we can always rely on for a competative and well organised fixture. Thanks again for having us.
