A brace from Mr Curran and a score for Predabbottoir is enough for the Gannets to see off a stubborn Shooters Hill XV

...Ok...so for the second week in a row,the Gannets got off a previously unheard of flying start only to peg themselves back with a combination of sloppy play, penalties and generally taking their foot off the gas.

Their hosts, however more than played their part with a never say die attitude that gave the housewives favourite all they could handle for the middle third of the encounter

The early exchange saw the Gannets move swiftly up the slope eventually winning a scrum just outside the Shooters Hill 5.An excellent strive against the larger pack culminated in Paddy picking up from the base of the scrum and embarking on one of trademark rampaging runs to cross for the early score which Josh Scandlers.

The Gannets were soon at it again, winning a penalty on the 5...the artist formerly known as Predator elected to take the take the tap and subsequently sold the worst.dummy.ever which the hosts inexplicably bought, perhaps through disbelief, and Abbo 7 went over for another try.Again,Josh added the extras.

So,as we come to the second act there's not much more I can say but that Shooters Hill attacked, attacked and attacked, got to the Gannets 22 and then repeatedly turned the ball over which was handy as the visitors game had temporarily gone to ratshit.Nothing to do with Pad going off injured and Mayhem going off with a swollen stomach,I mean knee (definitely wasn't that).

By the way 'Maddog' isn't the name of a Welsh village,it means 'Mad Dog which is Sargey self appointed nickname if you will.

Just incase you were wondering. And you weren't.

A comedy of errors contributed to the only Shooters Hill try of the game with a deflected clearance bouncing off hands and heads and straight to a player in green who took the ball from his own 22 to score the (unconverted) try.

Several bouts of handbags and a Shooters Hill yellow card later, the Gannets finally got their game together and once again it was the man with the beautiful beard that took the ball across the line to finish the scoring for the day and a 5-19 victory.

So it was a somewhat disjointed performance today but, hey,it's preseason and a new look Gannets with a mix of youth and experience and Mayhem are still getting to know each others game

And Sargey's still getting to know which 18 year old he can fondle in the showers, now Dan Bromley's left him....

Until next time....
