An under par Gannets side get taken apart by Sheppey on the banana.

At the end of the day the Gannets could have no complaints about todays result.Sheppey just wanted it more.

They were more aggressive, more aggressive and more aggressive than their hosts who whilst equipped with the players to do the job, just couldn't get going with those penalty problems coming back to bite them in the arse time and time again. The lack of a kicker certainly didn't help although the wind howling downfield was a test for even the best of marksmen but as it happened it wasn't an issue with only the one score to the Gannets name.

Sheppey with the wind and the hill at their backs scored 3 first half tries but the Gannets felt they were still in the game, especially with Michael Walsh's try towards the end of the half. The home side felt that the momentum was with them going into the second period and when Gary 'right to stay' Curran went over after some 10 minutes or so their tails were most definitely up.The try however was harshly judged a double movement and didn't stand. With their chips well and truly peed on the Gannets game went down the toilet, losing the ref through ill discipline and a quite frankly harsh yellow card on Matt Clarke even if I do say so myself...

The hosts kept plugging away and never gave up but Sheppey came armed with a kicker and the penalties conceded inside the Gees 22 were converted into 3 successful shots at goal, demoralising and subduing the Gannets enough to see the visitors out to the final whistle.

After such a solid performance last week it was disappointing for a decent looking Gannets side to go down in this manner but you just deny Sheppey their dues as they were just bigger, more aggressive and hungrier for the win than the Gees who possibly had an air of complacency about them, especially after their victory in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

The Gannets travel to Tunbridge Wells for another tough fixture on the 15thso until then it's rest up,recoup and hope that Paddy doesn't get deported back to the EU.

Until next time...
