Yet again the G's lose by a point in a game they dominated early on.

It was a decent looking G's side that travelled to Vigo looking to pick up their first win of 2014.
To be honest, most of us were surprised that the game went ahead with the recent heavy rain and pregame warm ups consisted of lots of falling over and being ankle deep in mud,a theme that would continue throughout the afternoon.
From the start the G's tried to take the game to Vigo with some strong running from Percy and big H but challenging conditions underfoot slowed their progress and to be honest, proved to be an equaliser between the two teams.
Our pack had the edge in the scrum but just couldn't gain any traction and likewise in the backs where there was lots of comedy,cartoon-style running on the spot going on.
A reshuffle was forced after half an hour with Chippy going off injured and shortly after we were down to 14 with Percy going in the bin for looking at their full back the wrong way.Or something.
Half time came with the G's 6 nothing up thanks to George Corrigans 2 out of 3 pens.
Vigo came out for the second half having made 4 changes (not first team players),reshuffling a couple of players and immediately pinned the G's back in their own half.
Losing H to injury meant uncontested scrums, robbing us of our one advantage and shortly afterwards the Vigo 10/13 weaved through some lame tackles to score by the posts for 7-6.
A G's rally in the last 5 was all in vain as no further scores were added.

A disappointing game to lose for the G's,especially after such a promising first half in which we could and should have scored more but we many of us had that 'couldn't get going' feeling.Mainly due to the fact that we couldn't get going because we couldn't get any traction in the mud.
Special mention to the man in middle for talking to both sets of players like children and showing three yellows in a game that was far from bad tempered.
Extra special mention to Ian Shuttlewood because he loves having his name mentioned in match reports.
Despite the loss however, our thighs and calfs got a great workout, which was nice.
Until next time..
