Too many hopeful punts forward losing possession at critical times almost lost it for the 'home side' in this close thriller. Gravesend blacks continued to hand over possession of the ball by punting it when they should have taken the tackle and put the balls through the hands building up phased passing.
However, tackling was good today and each and every player seemed to have an extra burst of pace at critical moments as they were approaching the try line and the tries eventually arrived.
With the scores locked at 20-20, the whites went ahead 24-20 but substitute Ben Ide came off the bench to score the winning try, converting it himself to take the final score to 26-24.
Max Owen and Ben Hope were outstanding with their ability to avoid tackles whilst Henry Bowler was again commanding in the central position. Liam Hammock made 2 telling passes that both resulted in tries. New signing Sue Fletcher placed the ball down over the try line once in each half whilst try of the game went to Stenley M who broke through and was not going to be caught.
26-24: exciting stuff!
