Dynamite Dazzle on Debut and destroy Spitfires

GRFC Gravesend Dynamite, only formed in late September 2013 played their very first match on April 20th and it was egg-citing and egg-tremely entertaining!
The Dynamite travelled with a large supporting crowd to Folkestone Spitfires, received a warm welcome from the hosts and came away with 2 wins out of two: a remarkable feat for the Dynamaite playing their first ever competitive games.

Captain Tom Mc had the honour of punting the ball in to opposition territory to kick off our veunder 18 encounter. Folkestone Spitfires, showed experience in the early stages of the match and seemed to rattle the vistors as we rushed passes and made some poor choices over the first few minutes. However, Tom Mc and Ben S showed great leadershop skills, coaching their team mates within the game and the Dynamite players soon settled down and were making tackle after tackle. Furthermore, some pace driving forward and passes at the right time led us deep in to the Spitfire half. Ben S was particularly reliable with accurate passing.

Just before half time, Ben H and Patrick M won the ball with 2 crashing tackles, fed Tom Mc who in turn offloaded to Max O who burst through tackles to score right between the posts.

The Dynamite started the 2nd half with increased confidence, Tom Mc again offloading at the perfect time as Max O looped round to score his 2nd try in the corner.

In a pulsating game, Folkestone pressed forward but were denied by a last gasp tackle - tackle of the game - from Millie. This Spitfire pressure continued though and they were rewarded with a try back reducing the score to 4-8.
However, a superb defensive line of 5 just stopped every further Folkestone attack with William A being particularly good at the tackle -his tackle count was immense!

With Dynamite starting to dominate, Tom Mc created a chance for himself by punting ahead to perfection and storming through to overtake the opposition with great speed and score himself - converting the try for a further 2 points.
With only seconds remaining, Cormac who probably played better than he has ever played before (in fact Cormac scored the only try of game 2 giving the Dynamite a 4-0 win - a scoreline which does not reflect our dominance in the game since both the 1st half and 2nd half were played entirely in the opposition half though it does tell us how committed and effective the Spitfire defence was) added an opportunist try himself which was well deserved for his hard work - again this was converted by Tom Mc for a final score of 4-24 in favour of the Dynamite.

A superb win for GRFC Dynamite in their very first match. Club captain Liam Hammock congratulated the squad who were rewarded by their hosts with easter egg gifts.

Thank you to Folkestone Spitfires - we had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and both teams produced a great advert for wheelchair rugby league.
