....and Mckee, Grant, Cubitt, Nirees, Flecther, Hammock and Murray in Dynamite try blitz!

Captain Liam Hammock had the honour of kicking off Gravesend Dynamite's first ever adult game against national league side Swindon St George and Dynamite came away with the win to prove how far our club has come in a very short period of time.

The early stages of the game were all Swindon with Dynamite on the back foot. Murray tackling well kept out Swindon over the first few minutes but the inevitable (a converted try) happened after St George pressure and almost immediately again to open up a quick 12-0 lead. However, the Dynamite dug deep and defended as a team locking down the gaps and keeping St George at bay till the break.

The 2nd period started with Dynamite playing at a high tempo with some terrific passing opening up space in the St George defence and Dynamite capitalised with 2 tries for Mckee and Slade (converted by Mckee and Slade respectively). Dan Grant who played superbly offering passes at just the right time allowed Dynamite to invade in to St George territory more and more and he himself found himself in the open to drop goal us in to a 13-12 lead (1 point for a drop goal in wheelchair rugby league).

Ruth Cubitt, switching wings at pace to confuse the visitors allowed more space in the centre for the impressive Mckee to go over for a try (which he himself converted) to open up the lead to 19-12. Again Cubitt soon made a break down the left wing drawing in St George defenders and Slade got himself his 2nd try.

Slade and Mckee, who were both excellent throughout, began dominating the game as each minute went on, and were now in full flow - a 10 minute peiod of high intense pressure blitzed the St George team in to almost submission as Nirees and Slade again went over (Slade converting the latter) to stretch the lead to 33-12.

Nirees was excellent throughout in defence and attack, motivating his team mates to stay focused.
St George showed their experience, re-grouped and got two late tries back but Sue Fletcher was returned to the pitch to tighten up the Dynamite defence.
33-20, a superb win for Gravesend Dynamite: the whole squad should be very proud of themselves. Not only did Dynamite win on their debut but to come from behind and play in such an attacking style was impressive.

Squad: Hammock (c), Fletcher, McKee, Grant, Murray, Cubitt, Slade, Nirees
