Rarely in team sport do we see the whole team get on the scoresheet and contribute points.......but GRFC Dynamite under 18's managed just that with an emphatic 70 points to 8 victory in Folkestone.
Folkestone actually scored first and with another try soon after they were 8-4 up after 10 minutes. However, a resolute defence and some superb attacking patterns of play were just too much for the Spitfires over the course of the whole match.
Tom Mc, as captain led his dynamites superbly: he had an incredible success rate (9 from 11) with conversions, made some telling kicks over the Folkestone back line and some of his passes drew gasps of admiration from the welcoming Folkestone supporters but he also controlled the match with some good pre-arranged 'calls' and tactics which Folkestone, though much improved themselves, weren't able to respond to.
Max O was today's top tackler with well over 100 tackles to his name throughout the match and he managed 3 tries. Michael made a great debut in B&W for GRFC with two tries and a conversion. Millie and Henry continued to show great progress and both managed a try each (plus some well timed passes) whilst George B was jokingly offered the opportunity to transfer to Folkestone after the game with his 5 tries and a conversion - he has decided to stay with Gravesend Dynamite!
So, an excellent team performance in front of a large crowd watching. Energy levels and effort were high - perhaps the reason why the two teams both polished off over 70 sandwiches kindly laid on by the hosts after the game.
Final score: Folksetone Spitfires 8-70 Gravesend Dynamite
