Bruising encounter but GRFC come away with the win!

This was a match for the spectator and a large local crowd of Warwickshire people watched this Gravesend Dynamite versus North Wales Crusaders match in Rugby.

Gravesend got off to a perfect start with a fast flowing move involving Warren Mckee and Dan Grant sent Lee Barnes who had found space on the wing to score the opening try. Mckee converted to put Dynamite 6-0 up (4 points for a try in rugby league). Gravesend should have realised straight away that the key to scoring tries versus Crusaders was to target the wings but Gravesend made hard work of it continuing to punch through the middle of the park.
Crusaders immediately hit back with two tries, one converted to lead 10-6. Gravesend continued to invade Cru's territory and produce try scoring opportunities but simple rule infrinegements gave Cru penalty after penalty - Cru took advantage kicking deep in to the Dynamite half. However, Dynamite held firm and continued to defend well only allowing Cru to score one converted try and one penalty to lead 18-6 with 5 minutes of the first half left.
Dynamite continued to apply pressure and began to tackle a lot harder. Tom McCarthy fed Jason Owen coming off the left and he squeezed through a gap to touch down between the posts. McKee converted. Dynamite regained possession from the restart. With seconds left on the clock, McKee 'kicked' (punched) the ball over the Cru line and Owen raced on to again score between the posts to leave the score 18-18 at the break after another McKee conversion.
Dynamite now seemed in control after an early McKee penalty followed by a Dan Grant try converted by McKee put them 26-18 up. Lee Barnes was making ground on every attack and Dan Grant, after a disappointing first half by his standards was now back playing at his best. Cru wouldn't give in though scoring a converted try to narrow the scores to 26-24.
Dynamite continued to boss the second half with two further tries for Grant and another for McCarthy, two converted by McKee with a Cru converted try in amongst it left Dynamite with a 40-30 win.

Gravesend will learn that penalties hurt the team and on reflection will be pleased with another win against Premier league opposition.
