Missing a few key players through a sickness bug, the G's took to the field on a sunny day in Hayes with the bare minimum 15 players.

The first 10 minutes of the match saw both teams neutralising eachother with strong defensive tackling and neither team able to break through the other's back line. Jacob O sustained an injury to his shoulder in a ruck, which led to a break in play while he was treated on the pitch and sadly, subsequently retired and taken to casualty. We await news and wish him well.

Now down to 14 players against the 15 of Bromley, who had plenty of fresh legs on the bench, it was clear we faced an uphill task to get anything out of the game. Soon after the restart, Bromley broke through a resilient G's defence and scored a converted try, leaving us 7 points down. It wasn't too long before we saw the reaction we needed.

Ben C exploited a gap in the Bromley back line and scored, narrowing the gap to 2 points at 7-5. A few minutes later, following another strong rucking display, Zac put on a burst of speed and strength and scored under the posts a try duly converted try and the G's edged ahead 7-12. Bromley responded and with the numerical and downhill advantage broke clear down the left wing, only to be thwarted twice by textbook strong tackles from Tye as fullback. The half-time whistle blew and the boys took on some much needed water and caught their breath. Half-time score 7-12.

The G's 14 started the second half with the momentum and downhill advantage and it wasn't too long before Oren carried the ball over for another G's try which was converted, leaving the score at 7-19. Bromley kept up tbe pressure and enjoyed some posession, but Zac tackled the isolated Bromley winger, ripping the ball from his grasp and ran the ball home in the corner making the score 7-24.

Into the last 10 minutes the G's were clearly determined to finish in style. Further tries came from Oren, Tye and Ben, 2 of which were converted. The final whistle blew with the score a highly creditable 7-43 to exhausted and victorious G's

Final score 7-43 (Tries: Ben 2, Oren 2, Zac 2, Tye 1 Conv: Tye 4)
