It was hard to find fault in their season finale performance, despite missing some key players again this week. Every facet of the game was excellent.

Missing Zac & Cody (skiing), Josh & Jacob O (injuries), Oren and Stan B (unavailable), many boys played in unfamiliar positions, but put in an outstanding performance. Every player played their part in a great all round team performance. A game where our scrums were both strong physically and technically better than in recent weeks, rucking was great and passing and ball distribution was quick and intelligent. A delight for the spectators!

Jo opened the scoring for the G's with a characteristic strong run and hand off, his lengthy stride making him difficult to tackle. His try duly converted from a central position. 7-0. A few minutes later, Ned picked the ball from the base of the scrum and made a quick darting run and an excellent offload to Tye, who ran it home and subsequently converted. 14-0.

The third try was arguably the pick of the bunch. G's scrum in the centre of the pitch, great hooking by Connor and a strong drive from the pack. Nathan (no. 8) picked up the ball from the back of the advancing scrum, made a powerful run forward, an offload to Tye, who made another 20 yards, before passing back to Nathan who kept in close support. Nathan ran it home in the corner, leaving a tough uphill conversion, which was slotted between the posts. The halftime whistle was blown and the score 21-0.

The boys maintained their dominance early in the second half, with some lovely passing out to Tye, who scored in the corner and converted leaving the score at 28-0. The 5th try came soon after again with Nathan picking the ball up from the back of the scrum, passing the ball to the back line. 5 more passes were made, the ball eventually ending up in Ben's hands, who was tackled just shy of the line. Ben offloaded to Stan who was in close support who carried the ball over for our 5th try. The conversion followed and the G's were looking comfortable at 35-0.

With about 15 minutes left to play, a marginal offside call against Ned, led to an Ashford penalty and with the Ashford boys keen to get on the score sheet, they elected to kick. A well struck penalty reduced the gap to 32 points at 35-3. Soon after and with Ashford finding some renewed confidence, they scored in the corner and converted a difficult kick. 35-10.

With the gap narrowed to 25, the G's responded with a final two tries. Firstly Tye running it home in the corner and finally with a good passage of handing and passing, Ned touching it down for a well deserved try. The final whistle blew on a brilliant season with the score at 45-10.
