Despite many boys carrying the fatigue, knocks and scrapes of House Rugby the day before, the 1st team pitch experience was enough to ease the pain.

Early dominance in the scrum from a well drilled Cranbrook pack, led to territorial and posessional pressure from the off. Some good tackles were put in, notably by Zac and "man-mountain" Oli, as the G's soaked up the early pressure. Loose ball and good rucking following those tackles produced a breakaway try from Zac, duly converted. 7-0 G's.

The re-start led to a repeat of the 1st 10 minutes, with the G's defending in their own 22 again, before another strong run and try from Jo and subsequent conversion settled the nerves at 14-0, 10 minutes into the game. The next 20 minutes saw a rampant running display from Zac, Josh, Jo and Tye, supported by great rucking from the forwards. This left the score 42-0 at half time.

The second half started with the referee seeming determined to even the game up with the G's being penalised constantly. The boys kept their cool, dealing with the pressure from the resultant penalties and a dominant Cranbrook scrum, before Jo broke away with another gallop to the line for his 3rd try, again converted and we were 49-0 up. With the referee threatening to "call the game" at 50 points, Cranbrook scored and converted, much to the relief of the boys, who were enjoying their game on a flat pitch. A final two converted tries came from the G's, the last of which clearly showed Tye's football background, kicking the ball 3 times before finally scooping it up and scoring.

Final score 63-7 (Tries: Jo 3, Josh 2, Zac 2, Tye 2. Conv: Tye 6, Zac 3)

Overall, another very solid performance with some great tackles, (particularly Oli's two crunchers on the Cranbrook Prop) solid rucking and our usual strong running. Scrum technique still needs some work however, if we want to be "the full ticket"
