Local Rugby is Thriving!

On a glorious day for rugby the U9s welcomed our mates from over the fence and Gillingham Anchoriains to Rectory Field.
The weather was overcast, with fine drizzle in the air. The Gazebo was swiftly erected to offer those who required shelter from the elements some solace. The Ring Master aka Coach James was absent due to a debilitating stomach bug. But from his sick bed he sent the match schedules and stakes for the pitch markers.
So on the dot of 10:15 all teams began their matches. The timings were kept by Phil F and adjustments to the pitch sizes were assisted by Rob and Dannie H. Thank you for your assistance.
The 11min games rolled on at a pace with a 4min change over for a drinks break. There was some beautiful flowing rugby from all teams and some big tackles to end of season on. The bumps and bruises were kept to a minimum and the medical bag can now go away until September.
At 11:20, sharp all teams gathered in front of the Gazebo for a huge group photograph with smiles and mud on their faces.
It reminds us all why we loved this game.
The players retired to the Players Bar for Hotdogs and squash. Thanks to the volunteers who helped out.
The Gazebo struck with ruthless efficiency and then all retired to the club house.
No scores were kept and as alway grassroots rugby was the winner.

The Coaching Team gathered in the bar to rehydrate and chat about the season and what's to come next.
This year has seen lot of changes and new things to learn, but the players have remained committed to the process.
Even if they have taken a little break, they have returned refreshed and ready to go.
Next season bring, Rucking, Ripping and Scrums (with no pushing).

So we go again.
