Some of you may be aware of the injury to Mete McCarthy of the U15’s squad on Sunday morning.
Unfortunately Mete suffered damage to his right kidney. After his initial visit to Darenth Valley he was transferred to St Thomas ’s for further observation and having been monitored since admission and a CT scan this morning it has been decided that the damage is irreparable and is currently having surgery to remove the kidney.
Having spoken to his father, Terry, Mete has been in relatively high spirits (the joy of youth!) and just prior to going down for the op was Facebooking and texting his friends.
On behalf of all of us at Gravesend Rugby Club we wish Mete a speedy recovery.
It will be a few days before Mete is able to receive visitors so please give him and his family a bit of breathing space.
Update from Gary Theobald, Chairman Mini & Youth - posted 08:36 on Thursday 14th November
''Just to up date you all on Mete’s progress today.
Everything is going really well, he is sitting up and texting people. The tubes are starting to come out and he will start some gentle physiotherapy tomorrow.
He has read all of your texts of support and concern and thanks to you all.
His mum made it back from Turkey this afternoon so he is made up''.
Gary will send more info tomorrow
