We have this evening been contacted by John's son, Shane who has asked us to pass this message to Members via the web site -

''After John found out he had a heart problem back in late November, Dad had been on medication and was doing well, controlling his condition, but very sadly and terribly unexpectedly his heart gave out and sadly he passed away on the 1st June at home. He has left a massive hole in both Scott and my life, and is greatly missed by family and friends.
 
Both Scott and I would like to invite any one that knew John and would like to pay their last respects, remember and celebrate his life, from the Club or the Petanque section to his funeral.
 
The funeral will take place at the Garden of England Crematorium Bobbing (Sittingbourne) on Friday 28th June at 12 noon, the wake will be held back at GRFC, all are welcome to attend.
 
Due to the fact dad is being cremated we would like to suggest that instead of flowers, we would appreciate donations to charity, this would be along with Dad's wishes.

As part of GRFC's ongoing schools programme, the Club hosted summer camps at their Rectory Field ground.There were ''Rugby Kickball'' and the Inter Schools ''4 Square'' competitions with the events being declared a resounding success by participants, their teachers & parents and GRGC.

GRFC Petanque section announces that their Annual Open Triples competition in aid of the Mayor of Gravesham's charity will take place on Sunday 28th July starting at 10:00am.

I am pleased to announce the arrival of a new Lead Coach to Gravesend RFC. Matt Williams will be officially joining us on June 1st and we are all eagerly looking forward to what we sincerely hope and trust will be a turn around for us to get back where we rightly deserve to be, in the National Leagues.
