When Phil our grounds-man arrived for work on Tuesday morning, 2 January, he noticed smoke rising from the visitors dugout on the far side of the main pitch. On investigation he found that a fire set in the rubbish bin had caused considerable damage, and he had to use a fire extinguisher to douse the embers.
The club is fortunate to have a great main sponsor in Harlex, and they were quick to respond and on Wednesday two men with power jet spray cleaning and elbow grease cleaned off the smoke damage.
Members of the "Friday club" using the barn paint supplied by our sponsor managed to tidy up the damage to ensure that appearances from the spectators gallery looked no different to usual.
