A long journey, an indifferent second half performance but still five points in the bag from a developing side.

The first forty minutes of this fixture saw Gss dominant and in control at all phases of play.
A couple of penalties from the boot of the returning Dave Dorton was all the score on the board despite the continuous encampment in Gosport territory, but the home XV defended well to prevent Gss from crossing the line.
Thirty-two minutes on the watch and at last the ball was moved quickly wide, catching the defence flat footed and with ball in hand Chris Brady showed his pace to run round for the first try, Dorton's conversion kick lifted Gss clear 0-13.
On the couple of occasions that Gosport managed to clear the ball into Gss territory, it was quickly run back or returned with interest from the boot of Dorton.
So many times the pack drove the ball to the line, but could not find that final push to penetrate the home line and it was the sharp looking scrum-half Brad Smith who again made his own space to cross the whitewash.
Dorton added the extras for Gss to go in 0-20 at the break.
Five minutes after the restart and following a phase of inter-passing, it was the huge presence of Tom Shields that forced his way over wide on the right. The conversion went across the posts.
This score seemed to lull Gss into complacency and a re-juvenated home fifteen found they were inside the visitors twenty-two. Although kept at bay initially Gss had left enough of a gap for scrumhalf Wes Dugan to dive through to score, brother Wayne added the conversion to put Gosport on the scoreboard 7-25.
A game that should have seen Gravesend score "at least sixty points" showed up their inability to make the most of the huge amount of possession and dominance at all phases.
James Newman had an excellent game in the line-out while once again the back-row, Bird, Marshall and Hewitt were prominent at the breakdown and in the loose.
In the backs, Smith, Barbour, Brady, stood out, these individual performances could not go to make a team gel to the point of adding scores to the board.
At the end of the third quarter Gss conjured up another try when a missed kick from the home player went loose only to be seized on by a bemused Temi Okenla who ran across the line to touch down, Dorton added the kick to take Gss to a dominant 7-32.
The last fifteen minutes of the game, Gss lost all shape in their game and any urgency they had earlier seemed to disappear as Gosport found the energy, space and time to run through a non existent Gravesend defence for a further two tries, one converted by full back Gallimore to give a flattering score line for Gosport of 19-32.
Next week at home where Gravesend entertain the unbeaten league leaders,Tunbridge Wells, who have carried their form from 2015/16 with them along with their promotion.
