A (jugless) hattrick from Gary 'Paddy' Curran sees the Gannets past a resilient Old Gravesendians side.

My name is Matt Clarke and i'm….a wrestling fan.

And if this were a wrestling match it would have been described by good old JR as 'the drizzling shits'.It really was that bad.No wonder the people on the touchline were drinking. No wonder Sam Holden chose a chest infection over this.Even Mayhem chose to leg it to Cyprus to sell shade rather than put his name to this fustercluck.

No one is even sure why the Gannets put in such an abject, flat, error strewn performance,The team was certainly good enough, the conditions were decent as was the pitch but they just could not get going against their limited but game hosts. The usual suspects of dropped balls and penalties played their part in the early going as the Gannets found themselves backed up inside their own 22.An early injury to Paddy forcing him go off didn't help matters either until his Wolverine like powers of recovery saw him re enter the fray and score the opening try from a tap penalty after 20 minutes or so.With Dan Grant, who had an impeccable day with the boot and more surprisingly with his discipline, adding the extras the Gees were somehow 7-0 to the good.

The Gannets huffed and puffed and eventually scored again through said Oirishman and surely they were on their way to a big win over their demoralised opponents.Well,no.The OGs dug in,Mike 'teapot' Murray took his hands off of his hips and they kept out the Gees for the remainder of the half. The uncontested scrum had been threatened since kickoff and came to pass before the half was out.Whilst being unavoidable,it really did nothing for the poor sods watching this mess.

To their credit and despite being a man down the OGs were the next to score halfway through the second period, slicing their way through some appalling Gannets tackles to score an unconverted try,a try which spurred the visitors back into action as they actually started passing it around and stringing phases together to eventually cross the line courtesy of him...again.

Believe it or not their were some positives from todays game. The return of the man that ate Rohan Paul after a serious knee injury was most definitely one as he put in a few good runs from the wing.Jamie Feighery's diet which will surely see him playing on the wing by next September is an inspiration to all fat bastards everywhere.Surely there's a Netflix documentary in the pipeline?Dan Grant for not getting sent off and performing a hand off that caused the young Rolf Harris looking player on the receiving end to get cramp (how does that happen) and of course the legend that is Lloydy, still mysteriously missing from the GRFC player database, cleverely ballsing up receiving a kick, juggling it backwards along the deck thus drawing in defenders and then bursting George North like around them and gaining a good...oooh..ten metres. He meant that.Honestly.

Anyway,we're all off to Flowerhill Way,Istead Rise for a house party,Superbad style.Apparently someones parents are away for a couple of weeks...

Until next time....
