In the Kent Bowl QF Gravesend U15s ran out comfortable winners against a very spirited Whitstable side. With only 15 mins to kick off Whitstable only had 11 players and while this increased to 14 Gs were able to lend Whitstable 4 players to provide a decent level of cover.
The match was fiercely contested at the scrum and breakdown with, if anything, Whitstable having the upper hand. Indeed Whitstable were one of the better scrummaging sides we had seen this year. The real difference came out in the back where Peter Samko and Callum Molloy enjoyed lots of possession and exploited the large open spaces of the 1st XV pitch. Peter, in particular, used his blistering pace to good effect running in 4 tries. Callum had another great game showing further evidence of what a great player he is becoming and he scored three.
The remaining three tries came from Chamael, George B and Christian B. Indeed Chamael had the comedy moment of he day dropping the ball with the line beckoning. In trying to regather the ball he then clattered into the Whitstable centre who picked up what looked like a nasty injury.
A great performance all round and just in case you hadn't noticed the final score recorded by the referee didn't tally with the number of tries scored but no matter - onwards into the semis.
A big thanks to Oskar and Daniel who rolled out for Whitstable and giving a very creditable performance.
