Gs U14s Vs Sidcup

The "banana" which is pitch 3, was particularly muddy and a bitterly cold breeze provided a reminder that we were still in winter.

Injury wise, we were still without Jo B(unlikely to return this season), Nathan is returning to fitness and should be available this weekend, Jacob O was suffering with man flu and Jacob S was unavailable for selection.

This weekend, it has been decided to give more game time to some players who had enjoyed less than others to date. It meant that many boys were playing in unfamiliar positions. Sidcup had a small squad, limiting their ability to make changes, but had a strong pack and a very quick centre. Although we scored very early on and eventually won the game by a convincing 49 point margin, it did not tell the whole story.

Sidcup enjoyed a great deal of ball possession and indeed territorially threatening possession, but were thwarted by strong tackling from the Gs all over the pitch. Our rucking was again strong this week and ball was passing more fluidly through the hands of the backs. Support running was also more evident than in previous weeks. Speed into the breakdown and ball recycling will be of paramount importance in this coming weekend's challenges, so it was good to see continuing improvements here.
