In remarkable October temperatures G's put in a sizzling performance to come away with the win at East Grinstead. Having narrowly beaten the Sussex outfit at last years' Bognor festival this was always going to be a tough away game. Gravesend made the best possible start with George Dyett playing at 10 linking up well with Kyle Grace to go over within the first 3 minutes. The hosts hit back and scored a try and threatened to go ahead with a sustained period of attack midway through the first half, but G's stood firm, Callum Smith making two last ditch tackles to keep East Grinstead out and just before half time man of the match Connor Chambers scored via a lineout turnover. Gravesend went into the break 12-5 up.
The hosts came out firing in the second half and only some excellent goal line defending kept East Grinstead out, G's lost a player to a yellow card and soon found themselves pegged back as East Grinstead went over in the corner, the conversion was again missed and we led by two. G's then found another gear, despite being a player short Matthew Reece went over with an excellent finish and Matthew Bailey kicked the conversion to extend G's lead to 19-10. Again East Grinstead weren't finished and scored another uncoverted try to close the gap, but G's held their nerve and two tries in the last 10 minutes, the first by new recruit Lee Morrison and then a pick and go from Noah Atkinson gave Gravesend a deserved win.
