Winning formula continues

Gravesend again mixed in some developing players into the team and are developing a good core squad with most positions covered strongly. Thomas Ford, Michael Nelligan, OllyVerwyst, Sam Filmer, Dane Gillingham, Nathan Williams all adding value to the team when they were on the pitch, and Finlay Pavey now starting to achieve his potential and promise with some strong performances in recent weeks. This week they took on a Sidcup side who started strongly but as Anchorians had found the previous week they were up against a team now determined to bring down runners around the legs, and the belief and skills to stretch teams to the limit to build a three try lead by half time. It was a day for the back three to build on the good work of the Gravesend forwards with all winning good ball but Freddie Barrat and Ben Cooper making a big difference with numerous turnovers. Ben Hope (2) Sam Hiskett back after his enforced layoff following a concussion, and Owen Webster all scoring, along with Alfie Howden, Freddie Barrett and Patrick Murray also making the scoresheet. Freddies try coming from a number 8 pick up from Owen Hinks linking with flanker Ben Cooper who then offloaded well to Freddie to finish. From a shakey early start to the season it is now great to see the team taking shape.
