Gravesend Hurricane Hits Aylesford

Aylesford Bulls RFC, a welcoming club by all accounts did a first in all my years in local M&Y rugby and didn't serve any food for the players so the youngsters left hungry but not before an enjoyable morning session.

Aylesford under 10's are one of the best teams in Kent but Gravesend under 10's continue to improve and have excellent strength in depth with an increasing squad size.

After several warm up games and activities Gravesend took control of the final 2 matches with the Falcons performing well to gain a 10-10 draw (2 tries a piece) and the Eagles coming out 20-10 winners (4 tries to 2).
Scoring the tries for the Falcons were Aaron who battered through the defensive line and reached for a great individual score whilst the other try came from the energetic Ben after some fast flowing rugby involing Fin M and Thomas. The scrum 3 of Aaron, Josh and Harry never lost a scrum all morning and tackled superbly. William continues to improve and found himself in good spaces whilst Jack was often in the right place at the right time. A great all round team display with Fin M showing 100% effort from start to end.

The Eagles scored 3 tries through Josh B who broke through on several occasions with excellent darting / direct runs often supported by Harvey, 2 try assists coming from captain Max O and the other from scrum half Josh (we have 3 Josh's in the squad!) who is developing well. It's difficult to believe some players like Andreas have only just started playing rugby and head coach Gary Myers gave special mention to one such recent recruit, Wisdom who ran with no fear. Nick made one of the tackles of the day on Aylesford's best forward whilst the power & speed of Fin CS who touched down the G's 4th try is always impressive.

Two great final matches show Gravesend under 10's strength throughout the squad especially as so many players were actually absent this week.
