Answer - Yes, we can!

A great session of training involving side stepping, passing and tackling followed by a match for the Eagles and Falcons versus Canterbury.

With Canterbury, one of the better Kent under 10's sides, this was going to be a test but GRFC under 10's matched them in training and even managed to get 1 win out of 2 games in the competitive games giving us an overall draw.

The Falcons side of Fin CS, Marcus, Arron, Oscar, Molly, Nick, Wisdom, Thomas, Matthew and William were all full of effort and improved as the game went on but lost to Canterbury. Marcus and Matthew ran with the ball with pace when the opportunity presented itself, Thomas read the game very well and was always in the right place to make a tackle. Nick and Molly improved with each scrum. Arron came on at half time and gave us some extra strength in both defence and attack. Wisdom threw in well at line outs. Oscar's attitude on the pitch was excellent though he needs to be given more ball to demonstrate the great running he showed in Ashford. William covered a lot of ground and continues to improve but the stand out player for me was Fin CS who grasped chances to drive forward in to opposition territory and tackled with real determination.

The Eagles side comprising Josh B, Josh H, Max O, Max M, William A, Lucas, Lewis, Rory, Harvey and Andreas played superbly with many parents noting at the end that they were genuinely very very impressed with the 100% committment. Certainly the side played as a team tackling for each other and moving the ball well between hands. Josh Barnes burst through several tackles from his own half to put the G'sss 1 try up early on before Max O made it 2 robbing Canterbury of the ball and going on to score under pressure.
Two great try's but it was the incredible defence in the 2nd half with tackles flying in from Lewis and William amongst others that helped Gravesend hold firm and not conceed a try against us. Josh H and Harvey and attempted to run the ball out of defence well after good ripping from Max M whilst Lucas and Rory displayed good rucking ability at the breakdown. Andreas ran well and showed a much more aggressive (but controlled) manner winning lots of ball for his team.
A very good all round defence and attack performance with a 2 try to 0 fully deserved win.
