This is what rugby is all about!
Three teams (Gravesend, Dartford and Blackheath) coming together with all the other age groups doing the 2 minutes remembrance silence showing respect and quiet thoughts. Blackheath made up 2 teams, Gravesend and Dartford a team each and then a barbarian team of half Dartford and half Gravesend. In fact it was this mixed up team that really made rapid progress during the morning with 2 great wins over Blackheath's development team. Harvey Dean showed superb footwork to literally hop, skip and jump through the defence to score a superb try. Oscar Jones and Lewis Riggers also impressing with tenacity, skill and enthusiasm.
Though Gravesend had an early 1 try defeat to Blackheath A, GRFC came back with a superb 20-5 win over Dartford. Everything came together in this game against a strong Dartford side with a wrap, offloads, passing down the line, dominance in the scrum and the lads playing together as one unit. Tries for Josh Barnes (2), Josh Saunders and a fine diving effort from Fin Myers in the corner gave the Gsss a well earned win.
But rugby was the real winner today.
