Match Report By Ben Reeve (aged 9)
On Sunday, the Under 10's went to the Sidcup Festival. We got off to a really good start, and won our first match against Old Colfes 3-0! In our second match against Bromley, we weren't quite so lucky, and lost 2-1, but played really well, and gave it a big effort. Then, a bit of drizzle turned into a downpour - but did it stop us? No way! Despite giving it everything, we lost our third game to Sidcup 1-0. By the time we started our fourth game against Aylseford, we had many injuries on the team, but that didn't stop those players and we drew 3-3. We'd done enough to make it to the play offs, but as we had so many injured players, we had to withdraw at that stage. It was a great day, and even when we were losing, we didn't give up and tried our best. We enjoyed playing together and had a really good team spirit. We need to work on our rucking, and make sure we support each other in our tackling.
Match 1 versus Old Colfe’s Won 3-0
This was our best match because we were all fresh and it was fairly dry. I really enjoyed this game.
Match 2 versus Bromley Lost 1-2
Our second match we lost because the heavens opened and there was a really fast boy that nipped about and scored their tries.
Match 3 versus Sidcup B Lost 0-1
Wow! The Sidcup boys were gigantic, they must have been over 10!
Match 4 versus Aylesford Drew 3-3
Our last match was the most challenging. One of our players had to be carried off. There were quite a few injured players. We were tired wet and cold. We put all our effort into this match because we knew it was our last.
I hope the weather is much better next week in Blackheath and if it does pour there will be a tent or tree!
